CPAT Information
CPAT is the term used to describe a pass-fail, physical ability test developed by the International Association of Firefighters and the International Association of Fire Chiefs. As a standardized test, it has become a method of assisting fire departments in recruiting those who are physically capable of performing the tasks associated with firefighting.
The tasks include:
Stair Climb
Equipment Carry
Hose Drag
Ladder Climb/Extension
Forcible Entry
Rescue Drag
Search
Ceiling Breach and Pull
Central Illinois Fire Chiefs Association is a sponsor of the CPAT test which is held in Decatur, Illinois.
Upon successful completion of the timed test, candidates are issued a CPAT Identification Card. The test procedures involve registration, orientation, practice, two timed course sessions (test 1 and test 2), and the final CPAT test.
Cost is $35 to register and $130 on test day. We accept card or cash for payemnt. Personal Checks are not accepted.
The Illinois mandated ladder climb is included with the cost of the CPAT.
A ladder climb only may be requested at a cost of $35.00.
Please wear comfortable clothing, including long pants, and tennis shoes. Shorts are not allowed. Candidtate are also not allowed to use their own equipment for the test. This includes gloves, weight vests, or hardhat.
